SIOUX CITY, Iowa -- Travis Hurd scored the game-winning goal with just 1:35 remaining to send the Bellevue University men's soccer team to a 3-2 non-conference win over Briar Cliff University on Saturday evening at Faber Field.

Twice Bellevue had to rally from one-goal deficits but the Bruins were able to overcome en route to securing the victory. Bellevue is now 2-0-1 in their last three games away from home and improves to 4-6-2 overall on the season. Briar Cliff falls to 6-2-0 with their second loss in their last three games.

BCU struck first with a goal in the eighth minute. Luis Hernandez delivered the strike with the assist credited to Prichard Sibanda.

Daniel Coupland pulled Bellevue equal in the 25th minute when he converted a penalty kick for his fourth goal of the year.

The Chargers reclaimed the lead in the 65th minute on Kye Edwards' goal off a pass from Zach Sortino.

Trailing 2-1 late, Jonas Starkus netted his third tally of the season to again pull the Bruins back from a one-goal deficit. Travis Hurd assisted on the 82nd minute goal.

The game wouldn't stay level for long as Hurd notched his first career goal in the 89th minute to send Bellevue to victory. Rob Smith had the assist on the game-winner.

Ben Martin stopped three shots in goal for BU to earn the victory. Briar Cliff's Charlie Enright saved three shots. For the match, BU out-shot Briar Cliff by a 9-7 margin, while shots on goal were even at six apiece. Corner kicks went 10-4 in favor of the visiting Bruins.

The Bruins are off until Wednesday, Oct. 5 when they host Concordia University at 3 p.m. at Bellevue Soccer Club.
