JAMESTOWN, N.D. -- The Bellevue University men's soccer team was up to the task defensively but couldn't score a crucial goal in a 0-0 draw at the University of Jamestown on a windy Friday afternoon in North Star Athletic Association action.

Jamestown seemingly took a lead in the 39th minute when Jack Humphries sent a ball to the back of the Bruin net but the assistant referee determined that he was offside and the goal was disallowed.

The Bruins and Jimmies reached the halftime whistle with neither side having scored a goal but Bellevue owned a 4-2 lead in shots (3-1 on goal) after holding the majority of the possession and chances in the opening 45 minutes.

The Bruins continued to control the tempo of the match with edges in possession and chances in the offensive half of the pitch in the second half and overtime but were unable to break through.

For the match, Bellevue out-shot the host Jimmies by an 11-10 margin, while holding a 4-3 edge in shots on goal. The Bruins also won four corners compared with three for Jamestown. Sophomore keeper Ben Martin stopped all three shots he faced on the afternoon.

Sophomore Rob Smith led the Bruins with three shots and junior Lee Woolmore finished with two.

It was the first time the two sides have met since 2012 and just the fifth time the two programs have matched up ever. Bellevue snapped a two-game skid to the Jimmies as the all-time series now stands at 2-2-1.

Ranked 15th nationally, Bellevue (7-2-3/1-0-1 NSAA) returns to the pitch tomorrow with a 1 p.m. match against Presentation College in Aberdeen, S.D. Jamestown (7-3-1/0-0-1 NSAA) is off until next Saturday when they travel to Viterbo for a 3:30 p.m. NSAA match with the V-Hawks.
