BELLEVUE, Neb. - Bellevue senior Vinny Braga (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and junior Tobias Maertzke (Hamburg, Germany) have been named Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference men's soccer Defensive and Offensive Player of the Week, respectively, as announced by the conference.

The award is the first of the career for each player.

Braga was a terrific two-way player for Bellevue (13-2-1) in a 4-0 victory over Waldorf last week. The outside back scored a beautiful goal off of a no-look back-heel flick from senior Manuel Lira (Guadalajara, Mexico) and helped anchor a defense that only allowed one shot (which was saved) to reach a Bruin goalkeeper.

Maertzke continued his career year with a goal and a pair of assists in Bellevue's 4-0 victory over Waldorf last week. He assisted on junior Jamie Henderson's (Lincolnshire, England) eventual game-winner and doubled the Bellevue advantage five minutes later with a goal of his own. For good measure he played a beautiful long ball out of the back to set up sophomore David Goolsby's (Bellevue, Neb.) insurance goal in the 64th minute.

Bellevue's next match will be Friday against York College at 7:00 p.m. as one of two MCAC semi-finals taking place that day.
