BELLEVUE, Neb. - Junior Alan Carr (Lincolnshire, England) and freshman Rob Smith (Lincoln, England) were named the MCAC Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week, respectively, as announced by the conference. The honor, for each, is the first of their career.

Carr was instrumental in leading Bellevue (5-1-1) to a pair of victories this week as Bellevue extended their unbeaten streak to six (5-0-1) and could be found all over the field. For his efforts he was named MCAC Defensive Player of the Week, marking the second straight week that a Bruin has taken home the honor. He made numerous chases deep in his own end, including a number of highlight-reel bicycle clearances, to prevent scoring opportunities from being taken by opponents. He also played a role in the BU attack, delivering many quality balls into the box and even registering an assist in the Bruins' 2-1 double-overtime victory over Westminster on Sunday.

Smith saw the best week of his young career capped off by being named the MCAC Offensive Player of the Week for the first time in his career. Not only did he dominate possession in the midfield in victories over William Penn (3-1) and Westminster (2-1, 2ot) but he scored the game-winning goal in each contest. He also assisted on a goal in each match. Through seven games, Smith has scored four goals (3 of which were game-winners) with three assists for 11 points. He leads the team in assists and game-winning goals while ranking second in both goals and points.

The men's soccer team will be back in action on Thursday, Sept. 18 when they travel to West Palm Beach, Fla. to take on Northwood University at noon.
