DAVENPORT, Iowa – Senior Kristopher McFadyen (Glasgow, Scotland) assisted on a pair of goals and scored the eventual game-winner while junior Tobias Maertzke (Reinbek, Germany) scored a hat trick as the Bellevue University men's soccer team defeated St. Ambrose University by a final count of 5-1 on Saturday afternoon.

Maertzke opened the scoring for the Bruins with his first goal in the second minute off of a pass from McFadyen to give BU an early 1-0 lead. McFadyen added a strike of his own, unassisted, in the ninth minute which doubled the Bruin advantage.

BU seized complete control of the match in the 15th minute when Maertzke added his second tally of the match, this time unassisted.

McFadyen added his second assist in the 28th minute when his pass found junior Corey Smith (Ulverston, England) which gave the Bruins a 4-0 advantage. St. Ambrose pushed across a tally of their own before the end of the first half when Ryan McEvoy beat BU keeper Scott Robertson for the Fighting Bees' lone tally of the match. Maertzke completed his hat trick in the 57th minute with his second unassisted goal of the match to account for the final margin.

The victory was the second in a row for Bellevue who now sits at 2-1-0 on the season while the loss drops St. Ambrose to 0-1-0.

BU will be back in action on Tuesday when they host Graceland University at Tranquility Park in Omaha, Neb. at 7 pm.
