Last minute goal gives No. 17 Benedictine 2-1 win over Bellevue

OMAHA, Neb. -- The 17th-ranked Benedictine College men's soccer team scored with just 17 seconds remaining en route to a 2-1 comeback win against Bellevue University Friday night at Tranquility Park.

Benedictine improved its record to 4-0 with the win while Bellevue fell to 2-3.

The Bruins took a 1-0 lead into halftime on Jacob Cawsey's goal in the 39th minute. After his first shot was stopped by BC goalie Taylor Vinnage, Cawsey put the rebound into the back of the net for his first goal of 2013.

BC tied the match at 1-1 on Joe Sbarro's goal in the 78th minute.

The Ravens netted the game-winner on Paker Melott's pass that got past the BU defense and led to a breakaway for Kenneth Clarizio at the 89:43 mark.

Vinnage earned his fourth win of the season in goal for BC and notched five saves while Ben Martin registered two saves in the loss for BU.

BU outshot the Ravens, 14-13, while BC held a 6-4 edge in corner kicks.

The Bruins will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 14 for a 4:00 p.m. contest at Midland University.
