Bruins shut out Westminster, 3-0

OMAHA, Neb. -- The Bellevue University men's soccer team recorded its first victory of the year with a convincing 3-0 shutout over Westminster College Sunday afternoon in non-conference action at Tranquility Park.

The Bruins (1-3-1) return to Tranquility Park on Tuesday (Sept. 11) night for a 7 p.m. non-conference match with Morningside College. Westminster fell to 3-2-1 on the season. 

Bellevue got on the board quickly with a goal by Graeme Eaglesham following a pass from Jamie Waters at the 7:13 mark of the first half. It was Eaglesham's first goal of the season. 

Brady Batchelor made it 2-0 with an unassisted rebound goal off Westminster's goal keeper Damir Sabanovic five minutes into the second half. 

The Bruins added an insurance goal in the 84th minute with Nathan Southard's header from Conor O'Reilly that sailed past Griffin goalkeeper Nathan Young. 

Bellevue outshot Westminster, 14-4 and held an 8-3 advantage in shots on goal.

Luke Baxter got the win, improving to 1-2 on the season, recording one save in the shutout.
