Uhlan tied atop leaderboard, Bruins eight strokes back

MANHATTAN, Kan. -- A 13-over first round put the Bellevue University men's golf team in a hole and the Bruins are 15-over after two rounds of play at the Midwest Spring National Invite.

The tournament, being held at Colbert Hills, is being contested by 76 individuals and 15 teams on the 7,278-yard, par 72 course.

MidAmerica Nazarene (+7) holds a two-stroke lead over Friends (+9) for the team lead with Bellevue lurking in third with a 36-hole score of 591. Despite the first round 301, Bellevue kept themselves in contention; the Bruins shot 290 in the second, tied with MNU for the best round of the day.

Totte Uhlan is tied atop the individual leaderboard at 3-under. He began the day with a first round 72 and followed up by matching a Monday best 3-under 69. Uhlan birdied nine holes on the day, including five in the second round which were offset by just a pair of bogeys.

Morningside's Braden Bernaldo shares the top spot with Uhlan after carding back-to-back under par rounds, shooting 70 in the first round and 71 in the second.

Dylan Rodgers, after a 2-over 74 in the first round, shot par in the second and is tied for 13th place at 2-over. His day was highlighted by an eagle on the par-4 13th hole in the first round and a handful of birdies in the second.

Randy Christiansen carded a 6-over 78 in the first round but bounced back with an even par 72 in the second and is tied for 22nd place. His four-birdie first round was sabotaged by a double bogey on No. 3 and a triple on No. 17. Christiansen's second round saw more consistency with a trio of birdies, including on consecutive holes (No. 7 and 8), and bogeys.

Hugo Brandt is tied for 39th after shooting matching 5-over 77 in both rounds. Brandt birdied No. 5 in the first round and a trio of holes in the second while a double bogey on No. 13 the only real blemish on the day.

Cayden Wynne shot a first round 79 (+7) and shaved a stroke off the second (78) to play his way into a tie for 50th place. Wynne birdied a trio of holes on the day but a triple bogey on No 7 in the second round cost him a chance to be a little higher on the leaderboard.

The tournament wraps up tomorrow with third round action.
