Bonnet, Zillig earn Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors

MESA, Ariz. -- The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has revealed the 2022-23 Daktronics NAIA Men's Golf Scholar-Athletes with over 375 student-athletes recognized from over 130 schools nationwide.

Bellevue's Alex Zillig and Baptiste Bonnet were both named to the prestigious team. Zillig completed a Bachelor of Arts in Sport Management and is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration with a Professional Communication concentration. Bonnet, a junior, is pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration

St. Ambrose (Iowa) led the nation with nine recipients. Dordt (Iowa) and Mount Mercy (Iowa) were tied for second with eight honorees each. Keiser (Fla.), Missouri Valley, and Ottawa (Ariz.) were tied for fourth with seven each.

In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, must appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport, and have attended one full year at their institution. 

The Bruins won the 2023 North Star Athletic Association Tournament and will compete in the NAIA National Championship on May 16-19 at the Las Sendas Golf Club in Mesa, Ariz.
