Bruins finish program-best third at NAIA Nationals

SILVIS, Ill. -- The Bellevue University men's golf team finished a program-best third place at the 2022 NAIA Men's Golf National Championship being played at the par-71, 6,691-yard TPC at Deere Run. 

The Bruins had two previous top-10 finishes with a fifth-place outing in 2013 and a seventh-place showing in 2021. 

Keiser University claimed the team title with a 6-under four-round team total. Dalton State was three strokes back at 3-under par. 

The Bruins finished with a team score of 1148 (12-over par).  

Jakob Stavang Stubhaug of Keiser and Jack Dudeck of The Master's tied for the individual lead at 8-under par after 72 holes. Stubhaug won in a playoff to claim the national title. 

Hugo Brandt had the top Bruin round on the day with a 1-under 70. He finished the tournament at 7-over par, putting him in a tie for 34th place. Brandt had four birdies and 11 pars in his final round. 

Hugo Ronnberg was the top BU finisher overall at 1-over par. He fired an even-par round of 71 and finished 1-over for the tournament, putting him in a tie for 13th place. He had two birdies, two bogeys, and 14 pars in his final round.  

Rodrigo Navarrete shot a 3-over 74 and finished 2-over for the tournament, which earned him a tie for 19th place. Navarette had one birdie and 14 pars on the day.  

Alex Zillig recorded a 7-over 78 on Friday and finished 9-over for the tournament. He finished in a tie for 44th place. Zillig had one birdie and nine pars on the day.  

Baptiste Bonnet carded a 5-over 76 on the day and finished 16-over for the tournament, putting him in a tie for 69th place. His round was highlighted by a pair of birdies. 

The Bruins had an extremely successful 2021-22 campaign, winning five tournaments including the 2022 North Star Athletic Association team title.
