Bruins out front after Day One of NSAA Championships

ALBERT LEA, Minn. -- Four of five Bruins golfers are among the top five overall after one day of play at the 2022 North Stat Athletic Association Men's Golf Championships.

Alex Zillig paced the field with the lone sub-par score of the day. He shots a 2-under 72 and holds a three-stroke lead over Waldorf's Thomas Houdayer.

Teammates Rodrigo Navarrete, Hugo Ronnberg, and Hugo Brandt hold the 3-through-5 spots on the individual leaderboard with scores ranging from 74-to-76.

Bellevue's fifth golfer, Floris-Jan Oosterhof, finds himself in a three-way tie for eighth place after shooting a 7-over 79 on the afternoon.

Behind a balanced scoring effort, BU holds a 24-stroke lead over second place Waldorf. The Bruins shot 295 (+7) as a team to Waldorf's 319 (+31). Viterbo (326), Dickinson State (335), Valley City (353), and Dakota State (384) round out the field.

Tomorrow's final round will begin with a 12:30 p.m. shotgun start with the tournament winner advancing to the NAIA National Tournament.
