BU tied for fourth at Roadrunner Classic

ROCKY FACE, Ga. -- Alex Zillig is tied for ninth overall and has guided the Bellevue University men's golf team into a tie for fourth place after day one at the Roadrunner Classic where all 12 teams competing are expected to qualify for the NAIA National Tournament. Play was suspended at 7:45 p.m. due to darkness with most of the teams about halfway through their third round of play.

Keiser is running away from the field as the Seahawks hold a 39-stroke lead over second place Ottawa. All four of Keiser's scoring golfers are comfortably under par with three tied atop the leaderboard along side Dalton State's Matthew Cleary.

In addition to Cleary, Keiser's Jack Maxey, Isac Wallin, and Jakob Stavang Stubhaug are each 6-under. Maxey and Wallin have each finished 47 holes while Stavang Stubhaug and Cleary have completed 45 apiece.

Bellevue shot 9-over in the first round as they were tied for third early before a 14-over second round dropped BU into seventh and were 2-under at the time play was suspended in the third round. The Bruins are tied for fourth place with Coastal Georgia and Dalton State is third overall.

Alex Zillig, tied for ninth overall, is the top Bruin golfer at 1-over through 40 holes of play. After a 3-over first round, Zillig carded an even-par second round, and is 2-under through four holes in his third round.

BU's Hugo Ronnberg is tied for 14th through 46 holes. He is 4-over having shot an even-par first round, 5-over in the second, and is 1-under through 10 in the third.

Floris-Jan Oosterhof is the third Bruin in the top 20 at 6-over. He shot 3-over in the first round, 2-over in the second, and is 1-over through 11 holes in the third round of play.

Rodrigo Navarrete is 10-over on the day, having completed 46 holes. Following a first round 3-over, he shot 7-over in the second round, but is even through the first 10 holes of his third round.

Hugo Brandt struggled through the first two rounds but has shown considerable improvement and was just 2-over through nine holes in the third round.

All 12 teams competing are ranked in the most recent NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Poll: #1 Keiser (Fla.), #2 USC Beaufort, #3 Coastal Georgia, #6 Oklahoma City, #7 Ottawa (Ariz.), #8 Point (Ga.), #10 Wayland Baptist (Texas), #11 Bellevue (Neb.), #13 Dalton State (Ga.), #14 SCAD Savannah (Ga.), #18 Taylor (Ind.), #21 Texas Wesleyan.
