Bellevue third at Mid-South Classic

NEWTON, Kan. -- Paced by Alex Zillig shooting 2-over through Tuesday's first two rounds, the Bellevue University men's golf team is in third place at the Mid-South Classic.

Bellevue shook off a first round 298 (+10) to post 293 (+5) as a unit and are currently 15-over in third place through two rounds of play. Oklahoma City tops the leaderboard at 7-under (569), 13 strokes ahead of tournament host Grand View (+6) which shot 582 as a team.

Alex Zillig (+2) shot 146 on the day and is tied for sixth overall and Floris-Jan Oosterhof (+3) is in a tie for 10th place.

Zillig was consistent throughout the day as he made par on 24 holes, birdied five, and bogeyed seven. Oosterhof recorded five of his seven birdies in the second round.

Bellevue's other competitors, Baptiste Bonnet (+4), Hugo Ronnberg (+7), and Hugo Brandt (+12) are in 16th, 23rd, and a tie for 31st overall.

Bonnet recorded the lone eagle of the day for Bellevue, on 16 in the second round, to go along with three birdies. Ronnberg and Brandt each started strong with three and two birdies, respectively, in their first rounds.
