MADISON, S.D. -- For the third time this season, freshman Rodrigo Navarette has earned North Star Athletic Association Men's Golfer of the Week honors in an announcement made today by the conference office.
Navarette fired 3-under par 69 in the first round of the Whistling Straits Intercollegiate Classic (par-72, 6,788 yards) for Bellevue (Neb.). He finished the second round with 7-over par (79). Navarette earned a runner-up honor after a total of 148 strokes (4-over par) in the field of 87 golfers. He helped lead the Bruins to a fifth-place finish in the 17-team tournament.
Navarette has four top 5 finishes on the season and currently leads the Bruins with a 71.91 strokes-per-round average.
Bellevue wraps up its fall season next week at the Southern Plains Intercollegiate in Oklahoma City, Okla. The tournament will be held from Monday, Oct. 29-Tuesday, Oct. 30 at the Gaillardia Country Club.
