Arzate leads BU to first place tie at Midland Spring Invite

OMAHA, Neb. -- Senior Fernando Arzate tied for first place to lead the Bellevue University men's golf team to a first-place tie in the Midland University Spring Invite Tuesday at the par-72, 7,035-yard Tiburon Golf Course. 

The Bruins shot a team score of 12-over par 300, tying Doane University and Concordia (Neb.) University for first place in the 14-team tournament. 

Arzate fired an even-par 72 on the day, tying Nebraska Wesleyan's Grant Maser and Northwestern's Isaac Knock for individual medalist honors. 

Juan Gomez shot a 2-over par 74, good for seventh place in the 74-player field.

Andre Becerra tied for 15th place with a 4-over 76. Inaki Aldao carded a 6-over par 78, which put him in a tie for 26th place.   

Don Byers, competing as an individual, tied for 32nd place with a 7-over 79. Lautaro Marzilio tied for 50th with an 11-over 83 and Lucas Leinen tied for 62nd place with 14-over 86.   

The Bruins will return to action on April 30-May 1 when they compete in the North Star Athletic Association Spring Tournament at Wedgewood Cove Golf Course in Albert Lea, Minn.
