POLK CITY, Iowa -- Led by Fernando Arzate, the Bellevue University men's golf team is tied for second place after the opening two rounds of the eight-team Grand View Viking Classic being played at the 7,043-yard, par 71 Tournament Club of Iowa Monday.
The Bruins shot a 36-hole team score of 603 (300-303) and are tied with William Penn University which registered rounds of 306 and 297. Northwestern Ohio leads the tournament and holds an eight-stroke advantage over BU and WPU after firing rounds of 298 and 297 (595).
Arzate led the tournament after the first round after carding a 2-under 69. He is currently tied for fourth after shooting a 6-over 77 in the afternoon's second round for a two-round total of 4-over par 146.
Juan Gomez is currently in ninth place in the 54-player field at 7-over-par with rounds of 77 and 72. Andre Becerra is at 9-over par and is in 12th place after recording rounds of 76 and 75.
Lautaro Marzilio is tied for 22nd at 15-over par and Inaki Aldao is tied for 45th at 29-over par.
William Penn's Zachary Chegwidden leads the tournament field at 6-under-par, including the day's best round of 66 along with an opening round 70.
The final round will begin at 9 a.m. on Tuesday morning.
