OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -- Despite posting their highest score of the tournament in the third round the Bellevue University men's golf team managed to hang on for a second place finish at the 10-team U.C. Ferguson Classic hosted by Oklahoma City University at the par-71 Lincoln Park Golf Course.

After combining to shoot 2-unde through the tournament's first 36 holes Bellevue collectively turned in a 13-over performance in Tuesday's third, and final, round. That nearly cost the Bruins a second place finish but they were able to fend off Murray State College (863-864) for second place in a deep tournament field.

Oklahoma City won the team title with a team score of 820 (32-under) with Rupert Kaminski claiming individual medalist honors with a tournament-low score of 201 (12-under).

Bellevue's top finishing, Andre Beccera, placed fifth overall with a 54-hole total of 209 (4-under) after carding a 2-over 73 in the tournament's final round.

Fernando Arzate and Lautaro Marzilio matched Beccera with scores of 2-over in the final round to finish in 11th and 13th place, respectively. Arzate shot 2-over (215) and Marzilio shot 6-over (219) for the event.

Juan Gomez rounded out the list of BU participants with a solid 20th place show. He shot 7-over on the day and finished at that same mark for the tournament with a 54-hole total of 220.

The Bruins have a week off before returning to the links for the NSAA Fall Tournament on Monday-Tuesday, Sept. 25-26 at Bully Pulpit Golf Course in Medora, N.D.
