OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -- Led by Juan Gomez, the Bellevue University men's golf team is tied for first place after the opening round of the Southwestern Christian University Fall Invite being played at the Lake Hefner Golf Club - North Course Tuesday afternoon.
The Bruins shot a team score of 6-over-par 294 and are tied with Kansas Wesleyan University for first place. St. Gregory's University and Southwestern Christian are both five strokes back at 11-over 299.
Gomez is tied for second with an opening round score of 1-under 71. Andre Beccera is tied for sixth with a 1-over 73. Fernando Arzate fired a 2-over 74 and is tied for ninth. Rounding out the Bruins' scoring was Lautaro Marzilio's 76, putting him in a tie for 22nd place.
KWU's Ben Hadden leads the field after shooting a 5-under 67 on Tuesday.
Wednesday's final round will begin with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
