Madison, S.D. -- Bellevue University junior golfer Fernando Arzate has been named the North Star Athletic Association Men's Golfer of the Week as announced by the conference office.
After earning the honor twice last season and already three times this year (all during the fall season), Arzate takes home his first honor of the spring season.
This past week Arzate earned a 10th place finish at the prestigious Battle at Primm in Las Vegas, hosted by Grand View University. In doing so he helped the Bruins place ninth (of 18) as a team in a crowded field which had 16 teams either ranked or receiving votes in the latest NAIA Coaches' Poll.
He shot under par in both the second and third rounds of the tournament en route to a 3-under showing against an incredibly impressive field. After posting a 1-over first round, Arzate shaved four strokes off that total with a second round 69. He closed the event with a third round score of 71 for a total score of 213.
Bellevue returns to the links when they compete at the William Woods Invitational on Monday-Tuesday, Mar. 27-28 in Fulton, Mo.
