MIDWEST CITY, Okla. -- Led by senior Jose Vega's 2-under par 70, the Bellevue University men's golf team finished in eighth place at the 16-team Oklahoma Baptist Spring Invitational Tuesday at the John Conrad Golf Course.
Vega finished the tournament at 1-under par (73-70 -- 143), putting him in a tie for 12th-place in the 91-person field as the Bruins charted a two-day total of 585 (297-288). Bellevue finished even par on the day.
Oklahoma City won the tournament with a 10-under 36-hole total of 566 (283-283 -- 566).
Southwestern Christian's Carlos Ardila won individual honors with a 7-under score of 137 (69-68).
Tomas Ovejero carded a two-day total of 1-over par (73-72 -- 145), netting him a tie for 23rd place. Diego Gudino shot a 36-hole total of 147 (75-72), tying him for 30rd place overall.
Mike Hannon finished in a tie for 48th place with a 6-over total of 150 (76-74). Juan Gomez rounded out the Bruin scoring, finishing with a 12-over score of 156 (78-78), tying him for 75th place.
The Bruins will travel to Gothenburg, Neb. on Sunday-Monday, April 19-20, to participate in the Hastings College Invitational.
