Bruins 14th after first day of Primm Battle

LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- Senior Jose Vega (Medellin, Colombia) fired a one-over 145 to pace all Bellevue University men's golfers through Monday's first two rounds of the Battle at Primm hosted by Grand View University in Las Vegas, Nev.

Vega was one of 27 golfers in the field of 90 to shoot within one stroke of par on the afternoon, recording a 74 in round one and a 71 in round two.

All four other Bruins shot 160 or under through two rounds on the Par 72, 7,131 yard course. Juniors Tomas Ovejero (Salta, Argentina) and Mike Hannon (Hastings, Neb.) shot 151 and 155, respectively. Sophomore Diego Gudino (Queretaro, Mexico) and junior Nicolas Handal (Santa Cruz, Bolivia) recorded two-round scored of 157 and 160 on the day.

Oklahoma City University leads the field with a 564, 37-strokes ahead of the Bruins. They're followed by Cal. State-San Marcos (570) and Wayland Baptist University (576).

The Bruins wrap up their trip to Las Vegas tomorrow with the final round of the Battle at Primm.
