NEWTON, Kan. - Senior Jose Vega (Medellin, Colombia) fired a final round 79 as the Bellevue University men's golf team claimed an 11th place finish at the Mid-South Classic Invitational at the Sand Creek Station Golf Course in Newton, Kan.

Vega finished the tournament with a score of 224 (8-over) to end up in a tie for 25th place with three other competitors. Junior Enrique Jaramillo (Cali, Colombia) was second among Bruin finishers with a final round 85 – 235 total – to finish tied for 47th place.

Sophomore Diego Gudino (Queretaro, Mexico) shot a final round 81 to finish at 236, in a tie for 49th place and junior Tomas Ovejero (Salta, Argentina) finished the tournament with a final round 93 for a 254 total.

William Woods won the tournament title with a team score of 848 (16-under par), 26 strokes ahead of second place Wayland Baptist (874). Bellevue's team total of 937 was 52 shots ahead of Bethel (Kan.) and 11 behind 10th place Oklahoma Wesleyan.

Bellevue will return to the links on Friday, Oct. 10 when they compete in the two-day Nebraska Intercollegiate Classic at the Norfolk Country Club in Norfolk, Neb.
