NEWTOWN, Kan. – The Bellevue University men's golf team shot a 304 on the first day of competition at The Mid-South Classic at Sand Creek Station Golf Course in Newton, Kan. That score has them in 10th place overall but just three strokes back of what is currently a two-way tie for eighth at the tournament.
Senior Jose Vega (Medellin, Colombia) and junior Enrique Jaramillo (Cali, Colombia) both shot a team-best 1-over, 74 to find themselves in an eight-way tie for 26th place.
Sophomore Nicolas Handal (Santa Cruz, Bolivia) was third for Bellevue, and tied with five others for 40th overall after he shot a 5-over, 77 in round one. Juniors Tomas Ovejero (Salta, Argentina) and Diego Gudino (Queretaro, Mexico) shot 79 and 80, respectively, to round out the field for the Bruins.
Play at The Mid-South Classic will wrap up tomorrow morning as the Sand Creek Station Golf Course.
