OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Bellevue senior Jose Vega (Medellin, Colombia) fired a 2-under 140 and currently sits in a four-way tie for ninth place after day one of the U.C. Ferguson Classic at Lincoln Park Golf Course hosted by Oklahoma City University.
Vega shot an even-par 71 in the first round before following that up with an impressive 2-under, 69, in the second round.
Junior Tomas Ovejero (Salta, Argentina) and sophomore Diego Gudino (Queretaro, Mexico) are both tied for 20th place at 3-over after the first two rounds of play. Ovejero shot a 73 and 72 in the first and second rounds, respectively, while Gudino shot 74 and an even-par 71 in his first two rounds.
Next among Bellevue golfers is sophomore Nicolas Handal (Santa Cruz, Bolivia) whose 76 and 72 have him tied for 33rd place overall. Junior Mike Hannon (Hastings, Neb.) rounds out the list of Bellevue competitors as he sits in a tie for 40th place with a score of 150 (76, 74) through the first two rounds.
Play in the final round at the U.C. Ferguson Classic will conclude tomorrow at 9:00 am.
