Bellevue places third at SWCU Men’s Fall Invitational

Results

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Senior Jose Vega (Medellin, Colombia) followed up his 71 from yesterday with a 72 today to lead the Bellevue University men's golf team to a third place finish at the Southwestern Christian Invitational played at Lake Hefner Golf Club.

The Bruins (583 two-day total) shot a 9-over par 297 on the day to finish the tournament just one stroke back of second place of host Southwestern Christian University (582). Oklahoma Baptist University won the event after shooting a 7-under 281 on the day, finishing with a final score of 551.

Sophomore Nicolas Handal (Santa Cruz, Bolivia), competing as an individual, shot a 73 (139 for the tournament) to place second overall.

Junior Tomas Ovejero (Salta, Argentina), junior Enrique Jaramillo (Cali, Colombia), sophomore Juan Gomez (Bogota, Colombia), and sophomore Diego Gudino (Queretaro, Mexico) shot sequentially from 74-77 today. All four finished among the top 40 individuals led by Vega's tied 7th-place finish, followed by Ovejero (T-16), Gomez (T-23), Jaramillo (T-29), and Gudino (T-36).

The team will return to play on Monday, Sept. 8 when they take part in the two-day Oklahoma City University Invitational at Lincoln Park in Oklahoma City, Okla.
