ANKENY, Iowa -- Led by Jose Vega's two-under-par, the Bellevue University men's golf team finished fourth at the Grand View Viking Classic at Otter Creek Golf Course on Friday.
NCAA Divison III Central (Iowa) College finished first with a two-day total of 573. The Bruins concluded the tournament with a score of 580.
Vega, who finished third overall, fired rounds of 72 and 68 for a total score of 140.
Nicolas Herrera finished two-over-par and placed 11th with scores of 73 and 71 and Tomas Ovejero (70-77--147) tied for 23rd.
Playing as individuals, Mike Hannon notched rounds of 69 and 77 and finished tied for 19th while Diego Gudino placed 29th after scores of 75 and 73. Hannon's opening round of 69 is a career-best.
Other Bruin golfers included Enrique Jaramillo (76-75--151) and Nicolas Handal (79-75--154).
Tyler Christians (Grand View) was the top golfer of the tournament and registered rounds of 69 and 67.
The 14th-ranked BU men's golf team will host the MCAC-NSAA Tournament on April 28-29 in Ashland, Neb. at Quarry Oaks Golf Course.
