MIDWEST CITY, Okla. -- Led by Jose Vega's seventh-place finish, the Bellevue University men's golf team finished in third place in the 15-team Oklahoma Baptist Spring Invitational at John Conrad Regional Golf Course Tuesday afternoon.
Defending national champion Oklahoma City University grabbed the team title with a 29-under par two-day total of 547 (265-282). The host school, Oklahoma Baptist, finished 28 shots back at 1-under 575 (281-294).
The Bruins' recorded a 36-hole total of 7-over par 583 (285-298).
Vega was the top BU finisher at seventh place with a 4-under score of 140 (67-73). Nicolas Herrera tied for 13th with a 2-over 146 total. Enrique Jaramillo carded a 4-over two-day total of 148 (73-75). Tomas Ovejero notched a 5-over 149 (74-75), good for a tie for 25th place. Diego Gudino tied for 39th place with an 8-over score of 152 (74-78).
Oklahoma City's James Marchesani was the individual champion, finishing at 11-under par for the tournament with a score of 133 (64-69).
The Bruins will be idle until they compete in the Grand View Viking Classic on April 17-18 at the Otter Creek Golf Course in Ankeny, Iowa.
