KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Freshman Nicolas Herrera was named the NAIA National Men's Golfer of the Week in an announcement made today by the national office.
Herrera earned his second individual title of the season after winning a three-way playoff at the Battle at Primm on March 26 in Primm, Nev. He finished with rounds of 68, 72 and 69 for a three round total score of 209. He beat out 89 other golfers, and as a team, the Bruins took fourth place out of 18 schools.
A native of Cali, Colombia, Herrera is tied for No. 31 in the NAIA with an average round score of 73.17.
This marks the second-straight week a Bellevue golfer has earned the national honor. Karissa Moreland was named the NAIA Women's Golfer of the Week on March 26.
The Bruins are ranked No. 14 in the NAIA and will return to action on April 7-8 when they compete in the Oklahoma Baptist Invitational at the John Conrad Regional Golf Course in Midwest City, Okla.
