VICTORIA, Texas -- The Bellevue University men's golf team opened its spring schedule with a two-round score of 605 to place fifth overall after the first day of competition Sunday in the Claude Jacobs Invitational at the Victoria Country Club.
Oklahoma City University leads the 15-team field with a total of 590. Austen Fuller of OCU is the individual leader with a two-under-par score of 142.
Nicolas Herrera, who is tied for fifth individually, paces the Bruins with rounds of 72 and 75 for a day one total of 147.
Jose Vega is tied for 17th place after firing a pair of rounds of 75 while Tomas Ovejero is currently tied for 21st after scores of 72 and 79 for a total of 151.
Other BU golfers included Enrique Jaramillo (80-80--160) and Nicolas Handal (85-77--162)
The Bruins will conclude the two-day tournament tomorrow (Feb. 17) beginning at 8:00 a.m.
