EAST MOLINE, Ill. -- The Bellevue University men's golf team leads the Ashford Invitational by 18 strokes after the first day of competition on Monday at Short Hills Country Club.
The Bruins pace the 10-team field with a two-round total team score of 572 (-4).
Nicolas Herrera (72-68--140) is in second place while Jose Vega is in third after firing rounds of 71 and 70. Tomas Ovejero also finished in the top 5 with a two-under-par score of 142 to finish in fourth overall.
Nicolas Handal carded a 151 to place in a tie for 13th. Mike Hannon recorded scores of 79 and 75.
Ryan Hilton of Ashford University is the individual leader with a seven-under-par score of 137.
The Bruins will conclude tournament action tomorrow (Oct. 1)
