FREMONT, Neb. -- Junior Jose Vega won the individual title at the Midland University Fall Invite Friday, leading the Bellevue University men's golf team to a second-place finish in the 18-team, 72-hole event at the Fremont Golf Club.
Vega carded a 3-under par total of 68 to win tournament medalist honors. Iowa Western Community College's Max McGrail placed second with a 2-under 69. The Reivers won the team championship with a team total of 288.
The Bruins finished four shots behind IWCC with a total of 292. Tomas Ovejero finished in a tie for third with a 1-over 72. Nicolas Handel shot a 4-over 75, putting him in a tie for 12th place. Nicolas Herrera placed in a tie for 25th with a 6-over 77.
Bellevue will travel to Polk City, Iowa for the Grand View Viking Classic on Sept. 16-17 at the Tournament Club of Iowa.
