Bruins slip to 9th after three rounds at NAIA Championships

SALEM, Ore. -- The Bellevue University men's golf team slipped from third to ninth place after three rounds of the NAIA Men's Golf National Championship Thursday at the Creekside Golf Club. 

The Bruins shot an 18-over par total of 306 on the day and are 29-over par with an 893 team total after 54 holes. 

Oklahoma City University continues to lead the tournament field at 7-under par (857). Texas Wesleyan University made the biggest jump of the day after firing a 9-under par team total of 279, pushing the Rams from eighth place into second at 9-over par with a three-round total of 873. 

Davis Garner shot a 2-over 74 and is tied for 10th place individually at 1-over par 217. Jose Vega is tied for 22nd place after shooting a 75 on the day. He is 5-over par for the tournament. 

John Matthews is tied for 60th with a 230 (72-79-79) total. Tomas Ovejero has a 54-total of 232 (73-81-78) and is tied for 70th place. Mike Hannon is tied for 79th with a 236 (81-74-81) total. 

The tournament will conclude on Friday morning with the first group teeing off at 9:30 a.m. central time.
