BROKEN ARROW, Okla. -- Led by Jose Vega's first-place finish, the Bellevue University men's golf team claimed the 2013 MCAC Men's Golf Tournament title Tuesday at Forest Ridge Golf Club. The Bruins, who won their second-straight conference championship, earned an automatic berth to the NAIA Men's Golf National Championship on May 14-17 in Salem, Ore.
Bellevue finished with a team score of 920 (307-304-309), 21 strokes ahead of second-place Central Baptist College, which finished with a 54-total of 941.
Vega was the tournament medalist, finishing at 1-over par, 217 (74-71-72). John Matthews and Mike Hannon both tied for fourth place with a 236 total. Davis Garner tied for sixth with a 238. Tomas Ovejero rounded out the Bruin scoring, placing eighth after carding a 239 total.
