PRIMM, Nev. -- Paced by Davis Garner, the Bellevue University men's golf team opened the spring season with a seventh-place finish at the Battle at Primm Tuesday afternoon at the Primm Valley Golf Club.
The Bruins shot a three-round total of 9-over par 873. The host school, Grand View University, won the team title with 16-under par total of 848.
Garner tied for fifth place with a 5-under total of 211. John Matthews finished in a tie for ninth with a 1-under 215. Tomas Ovejero shot BU's top round of the day with a 2-under 70, finishing the tournament at 6-over par. Jose Vega tied for 51st with a 10-over 226. Mike Hannon rounded out Bellevue's scoring witha three-round total of 250.
Oklahoma City's Anthony Marchesani was the tournament's individual champion with an 11-under total of 205.
The Bruins will travel to Polk, Iowa on April 1-2, to compete at the Grand View Viking Classic at the Tournament Club of Iowa.
