PRIMM, Nev. -- The Bellevue University men's golf team is in seventh place after two rounds of competition on Monday in the 17-team Battle at Primm being played at the Primm Valley Golf Club.
The Bruins shot a two-round total of 2-under par 574 (285-289) and are just seven strokes off the lead. The Master's College leads the field with a 9-under 567 (287-280).
Bellevue was paced by Davis Garner's two-round total of 7-under par 137 (67-70). He is currently in second place individually.
John Matthews is tied for 11th place with a 3-under total of 141 (73-68). Jose Vega fired a 1-over 145 (73-72) and is tied for 26th place. Tomas Ovejero is tied for 57th with a 7-over 151 (72-79). Mike Hannon rounded out BU's scoring on the day with a two-round total of 166 (82-84).
Only four shots separate the top six teams in the tournament, with the Bruins still in the hunt at seven strokes back.
Oklahoma City University's Anthony Marchesani is the tournament leader with an 11-under total of 133 (66-67).
Round three kicks off tomorrow (March 26) at 8:30 a.m.
