Fritz chosen as NSAA Offensive Player of the Week

BISMARCK, N.D. -- Bellevue University senior guard TJ Fritz (Manhattan, Kan.) has been named the North Star Athletic Association's Men's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.

Fritz averaged 22.5 points per game on 71% shooting and an 8-for-12 effort (67%) from downtown. He sank all three of his free throw attempts on the week and dished out four assists while also registering four rebounds and three steals.

He poured in 19 points on Friday night at BU lost 70-69 at the buzzer to Mayville State. He connected on 7-10 field goal attempts and drained five three-pointers in eight attempts.

On Saturday, he followed up with a career-high 26 points on 8-11 shooting and a 7-10 effort from long range. He scored all of his game-high 26 in the first half as the Bruins downed Valley City for their first NSAA win of the year.

For the season, Fritz leads the Bruins and ranks seventh in the conference scoring 14.0 points per game. He co-leads the NSAA with 34 three-pointers, ranks eighth in three-point shooting at 40% and is second at the free throw line at 88%.

The Bruins (7-5) host Waldorf University at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 18 in their final game before an 11-game layoff.
