Bruins win third-straight, 75-56 over Nobel

BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Holding Nobel University to just 37% shooting, the Bellevue University men's basketball team picked up their third-straight win by downing the Knights 75-56 on Saturday afternoon in the final game of the Fairfield Inn by Marriott Bruin Classic.

With the victory, BU improves to 5-2 on the year. Nobel remains winless, falling to 0-6.

Willie Williams paced for Bruins in double digits with 15 off the bench. TJ Fritz added 13 and four rebounds, RJ Smith totaled 11 and pulled down five boards, and Raphael Allen chipped in 10.

Nigel Wilson did a little of everything for the Bruins, finishing with four points, three rebounds and game-highs of six assists and five blocked shots.

Marcell Galloway led Nobel with 17 points on 8-14 shooting and grabbed five boards in the loss. Anthony McManus joined him in double figures, finishing with 12.

Teams traded buckets in the early going before Nobel eked ahead 10-6. JJ Montgomery keyed a 13-0 run with a driving layup as the Bruins raced in front 19-10.

Bellevue extended the lead out to double figures on a basket from Raphael Allen midway through the first half. The Knights closed to with five, 31-26, outscoring BU 14-4 before a pair of free throws from Williams gave the Bruins a 33-26 halftime advantage.

Montgomery capped a 14-3 run out of the lock room as BU pushed its lead to 45-29 less than four minutes into the second half.

Nobel never got closer than 12, with the Bruins leading by as many as 21 with 7:28 to go and again at the 1:23 mark.

The Bruins are back in action this week with a pair of games at the Hampton Inn Thanksgiving Classic, hosted by Columbia College. Bellevue faces Hannibal-LaGrange University (2-3) at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 26 before facing host Columbia (3-2) at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27.
