MADISON, S.D. - Freshman Vinny Belcaster, who helped the Bruins to three victories last week including a pair of conference wins, was named the North Star Athletic Association's Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending Jan. 3.
Belcaster averaged 16.7 points per game in the three victories and shot 63.6 percent from 3-point range. He also averaged 2.7 rebounds and 1.3 steals per contest. Belcaster was 18-of-30 from the field (60 percent), including draining 14 3-pointers in 22 attempts.
He scored 15 points on a 5-of-8 shooting performance from behind the arc in BU's 83-79 victory over Waldorf University.
Belcaster also scored 15 points and grabbed five rebounds in a 73-59 win over Bethany (Kan.) College.
He closed out the week with a career-high 20 points and six 3-pointers in the Bruins' 84-69 victory over Viterbo University.
The Bruins will host Dickinson State University in an NSAA clash on Friday night, Jan. 8 beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the Gordon Lozier Athletic Association.
