MADISON, S.D. -- Bellevue University junior guard Jemeil King (Oakland, Calif.) earned his conference-leading fourth North Star Athletic Association Men's Basketball Player of the Week Award on Monday, as announced by the league office.
King averaged 18 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists in helping Bellevue earn a pair of conference road wins last week as the Bruins moved into sole possession of first place atop the North Star standings. He shot 54.5 percent from the floor, including 66.7 percent from inside the arc, and hit on 12-of-13 (92.3%) free throws.
In the Bruins' 71-56 win at #22 Mayville State, he scored 26 points and hauled down 10 rebounds to notch the first double-double by a BU player this season. He added six assists, a blocked shot, a steal, and he hit on 8-of-9 free throws to help seal the victory.
Following that performance up, King scored 10 points, dished out eight assists, pulled in six boards, and registered four steals to lead BU past Presentation by a 74-61 margin.
For the season, he leads the conference and ranks eighth nationally in assists (126/5.3 per game) while ranking third in the league in scoring at 16.9 points per game.
King previously earned NSAA Player of the Week honors on Nov. 11, Nov. 18, and Dec. 2.
Bellevue (19-7 | 9-1 NSAA) opens a four-game home stand to close the regular-season when they host Valley City State University on Friday, Feb. 14 at 7:30 p.m.
