HASTINGS, Neb. -- The Bellevue University men's basketball team had no answer for Broncos' offensive efficiency as the Bruins fell on the road to No. 19 Hastings College 90-80 on Tuesday evening in non-conference action at Lynn Farrell Arena.

The Broncos shot 59.6 percent from the field and connected on 52.4 percent (11-21) of their three-point tries as they picked up a non-conference victory over visiting Bellevue.
Hastings started the game on an 8-2 run before stretching their lead to 12 points, 21-9, on a bucket by Brendan Lipovsky at the 11:54 mark.
BU answered with treys from Jaron Dickson and Connor Dukes to pull within six points. The Bruins got as close as four points when a basket from Justin Bessard made it 27-23 for the hosts with 9:04 to play in the opening half, and again at the 8:29 mark following a basket by Dukes.
On two occasions Hastings stretched their lead to 15 points but a three from Josh Lindsey-Hunter with 34 seconds to play in the period saw Hastings took a 46-34 advantage into the locker room.
The Broncos' lead hovered between 10 and 16 for the first 11 minutes of the second half until a basket by Sequan Walker brought the Bruins to within single digits, 72-64, for the first time since the 6:12 mark of the first half.
BU was unable to get within eight the rest of the way as the Broncos picked up third victory in four games.
Dickson paced five Bruins in double figures with 15 points. Walker scored 13 as Dukes and Bessard chipped in 12 apiece and Josh Meier pumped in 11.
Hastings held a 35-29 advantage on the glass led by a pair of double figure rebounding games from Bart Hiscock (12) and Lipovsky (11). Both Hiscock and Lipovsky registered double-doubles, scoring 17 and 16 points, respectively.
Kevin Miller poured in a game-high 21 points for Hastings to lead all scorers. Shane Chamberlain (13) and Zach Kitten (10) both managed double-digit scoring games for the Broncos as well.
Bessard led BU with eight rebounds and Meier and Stephen Matthews grabbed five boards each.
