FREMONT, Neb. -- Four Briar Cliff University players combined for 84 points as the No. 18-ranked Chargers downed Bellevue University, 94-81, Saturday afternoon in the Draemel Classic at the Wikert Event Center on the Midland University campus.
The fourth-ranked Bruins fell to 4-4 on the season with the loss. BCU improved to 8-1 overall.
Blake Wilder, Nick Hilton and Jaffery Stillman each scored 14 points to lead the BU offense in the loss. Richard Reed was the fourth Bruin in double figures, finishing with 13 points. Stillman pulled down a game-high eight rebounds.
The foursome of Erich Erdman (27), Jackson Lamb (23), Jay Wolfe (18), and Blake Wiltgen (16) combined for 84 of BCU's 94 points in the contest. The four players went a combined 31-of-43 from the field. Only two other Chargers scored in the contest.
The Chargers shot a sizzling 64 percent from the field in the first half to build a 43-38 halftime advantage as BCU led from start to finish. Erdman scored 16 first-half points while grabbing three rebounds and dishing out three assists. BU stayed close in the opening half, shooting 50 percent from the field, led by Stillman's 10 points from off the bench.
Back-to-back layups by Wilder and Jalen Hall pulled the Bruins to within three points at 66-63 with 8:31 left in the contest. BCU, however, went on a 13-2 run over the next four minutes to pull away for a 79-65 advantage with four minutes to go.
A 3-pointer by Hilton brought BU to within 10 points at 86-76 at the 1:29 mark but that was as close as the Bruins could get as the Chargers won their eighth game of the season.
The Bruins will conclude the tournament with a 3 p.m. contest against Midland on Sunday, Nov. 26.
