Junior forward BJ Shelton has been named the North Star Athletic Association's Men's Basketball Player of the Week for his performance in last week's 10-point home victory over Dakota State University. It marked the second time this season Shelton has taken home the weekly conference honor.
In the No. 22-ranked Bruins' lone game of the week, Shelton scored 21 (on 9-of-10 field goal shooting) of his game-high 29 points in the second-half to complete a 12-point rally for a 78-68 victory over Dakota State. He shot 65 percent (13-of-20 field goals) for the game and fell just short of a double-double, finishing with nine rebounds. Shelton also collected two steals and one assist in the victory.
Shelton currently leads the Bruins with 15.6 points per game and ranks 11th nationally with a 63.7 percent field goal percentage.
The Bruins will host conference foe Viterbo University on Friday, Jan. 20 at 7:30 p.m. in the Gordon Lozier Athletic Center.
