
BARTLESVILLE, Okla. -- Oklahoma Wesleyan University defeated No. 8 Bellevue University, 90-85, Saturday night in Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference action at the Mueller Sports Center.
Oklahoma Wesleyan moved to 16-7 overall and 6-1 in conference action while Bellevue dropped to 18-5 and 5-2 in the MCAC.
Given Kalipinde registered 19 points and nine rebounds with 12 made free throws.
Isaiah Strong scored 16 points and Alex Worthen-Harris added 14 points and four rebounds.
Lee Ames, Thomas Hammock and Taylor Young each scored nine points.
Leading 13-11 five minutes into the game, the Eagles went on a 15-8 run to open up a 28-19 lead. The Bruins answered back with a 13-2 spurt capped off by an Ames 3-pointer to regain the lead, 32-30, with 6:18 left in the period.
After an OWU jumper tied the game at 32-all, the Bruins scored six of the final nine points to take a three-point lead at intermission, 38-35.
With the game tied at 50-50, BU scored seven-straight points to regain the lead, 57-50, with 12:46 left in the game, but the Eagles outscored BU 40-28 to end the game and win, 90-85.
OWU was paced by Phillip Jahn's 31 points and eight rebounds.
The Bruins open a three-game homestand beginning on Friday, Feb. 7 against Haskell Indian Nations University (6-15, 2-5 MCAC). Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m. at the Gordon Lozier Athletic Center.
