BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Senior Blake Zamudio and junior Jamil Goodwin scored 18 points apiece to lead the Bellevue University men's basketball team to a 71-57 Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference victory over Haskell Indian Nations University Tuesday night at the Gordon Lozier Athletic Center. 

Bellevue improved to 18-8 on the season and 9-3 in the MCAC. Haskell fell to 4-19 overall and 2-9 in league play. 

Zamudio connected on six 3-pointers while adding three rebounds and a pair of assists. Goodwin recorded his seventh-straight and 18th overall double-figure scoring effort of the season. 

Dominique Grant was the third Bruin in double figures, finishing with 14 points, along with six assists, five rebounds, and four steals. 

Haskell was led by Ron Rousseu's double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds. 

Neither team could establish control in the first half with the largest lead for either team at five points. The opening period featured five ties and five lead changes with Zamudio leading the way with nine points as BU took a 31-27 lead at the intermission. 

Haskell outshot the Bruins 44 to 38.7 percent in the first period as Rousseu paced the Indians' with six points and eight boards. 

After BU established a 37-30 advantage to open the second half, Haskell used a 12-7 run to close the gap to two points at 44-42 with 12 minutes remaining in the game. 

Goodwin scored six points during a 13-4 spurt over the next five minutes as BU opened up an 11-point margin at 57-46 at the seven-minute mark. 

Five-straight Haskell points cut the deficit to seven points (60-53) with 3:51 left in the contest. 

The Bruins responded with five-consecutive points to regain a double-digit advantage before collecting the 71-57 victory. 

Bellevue capitalized on 23 points off Indian turnovers while scoring 10 fast-break points and 34 points in the paint. 

The Bruins will travel to Point Lookout, Mo. on Friday, Feb. 8, for a 7:30 p.m. game at College of the Ozarks.
