No. 9 Bruins cruise to 85-61 win at Dakota State

MADISON, S.D. -- Six different Bruins scored in double-figures as the Bellevue University men's basketball team posted an 85-61 non-conference win at Dakota State University on Saturday night at DSU Memorial Field House.

Ninth-ranked Bellevue improved to 8-4 while Dakota State fell to 7-5. This was the Bruins' second win over the Trojans this season. BU also defeated DSU 85-65 on Nov. 26 in Bellevue.

Jeremy Arrington led BU with 16 points on 7-for-10 shooting while Ousseynou Diop notched his third double-double of the season with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Jelani Johnson recorded 14 points and made five of his six shot attempts. Other Bruins scoring in double-figures included James Parrott with 13 points while Derrick Davis and Austin Bowen both registered 10 points apiece.

BU shot 56.5 percent from the field and held DSU to just 30.4 percent shooting. The Bruins also held a 43-31 edge in rebounds.

Diop scored BU's first eight points and the Bruins ended the half on a 17-3 run to take a 41-24 halftime lead. Bellevue never trailed in the opening stanza and shot 54.8 percent from the field. Parrott led the Bruins with 13 first half points while Diop added12 points and seven rebounds.

The Bruins scored 11 of the first 14 points and led by double-digits the entire second half to cruise to the 24-point win.

The Trojans were led by Jesse Bean's game-high 23 points.

The Bruins will travel to Montana on Dec. 28-29 for the Rocky Mountain Classic.
