LAWRENCE, Kan. -- Senior Eugene Bain scored 18 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead a balanced Bellevue University offense as the sixth-ranked Bruins raced past Haskell Indian Nations University, 87-47, Friday night in MCAC action at the Coffin Complex. 

With the win, Bellevue (24-5, 11-2 MCAC) remained in a tie for first place in the conference standings with fourth-ranked Oklahoma Wesleyan. The Bruins will conclude the regular season with a pivotal contest at 19th-ranked College of the Ozarks on Saturday (Feb. 19) at 5 p.m. Haskell fell to 7-24 overall and 3-10 in league play.

Bain, who led the Bruins in scoring for the 15th time this season, also added a game-high three steals in 19 minutes of action. Senior Jeremy Cruise finished with 12 points and sophomore James Parrott added 11 points as the Bruins had seven players who scored seven points or more.

Joe Thompson was the lone Indian in double figures with 10 points. 

Junior Brandon Thompson had career highs with eight points and five rebounds in just nine minutes of action. 

Bellevue shot 51.3 percent in the opening half while nailing 6-of-10 3-pointers to storm out to a 46-22 lead at halftime. The Bruins shot 51.4 percent for the game and held Haskell to 41.7 percent shooting, while forcing 22 Indian turnovers.
