Fredenburg leads Bruins over Central Christian

MCPHERSON, Kan. -- Bellevue University rolled to their 19th win of the season following a Friday night win over Central Christian College, 81-62 on the first of two road contests this weekend. Bellevue will improve to 19-6 on the season and 6-3 in the league as the host Tigers will fall to 13-12 and 3-6 in the conference.

Bellevue powered their way through Central Christian in the first half on 47 percent shooting connecting on 6-of-17 from the three-point range holding their opponents to 40 percent and 3-of-10 from behind the arc.

The Bruins continued their hot shooting in the second half and built their 11-point lead and won by 19 as they shot 60 percent in the final 20 minutes. Bellevue was deadly in the final frame when they hit 5-of-8 3-pointers and held the host Tigers to 40 percent (12-of-30).

Following the Friday night victory, Bellevue will remain in the third slot with three conference games remaining being Oklahoma Wesleyan University and College of the Ozarks.

Bellevue local, Jace Fredenburg, led the Bruins in scoring with 20 points off the bench.  Jace was 8-of-14 from the field including 4-of-8 from three-point range. Fredenburg pulled down 4 rebounds and 3 assists in the win.  Kyle Prochaska recorded his 16th double-double of the season with 17 points and 13 rebounds and dished out 4 assists.

Davon White (Omaha, NE) and Matt Imig (Omaha, NE) contributed 12 points each on a combined 9-of-16 from the field and 6-of-12 from deep. Bellevue made 11-of-25 3’s and finished the game at 52.5 percent for the game (32-of-61). The Bruins out-rebounded the Tigers 42-to-29.

Sean High, the nation's leading scorer, had 27 points on 11-of-23 from the field including a hard-earned 4-of-12 from three-point land. Sean had 3 steals and 4 turnovers to lead the team. Patrick Green had 13 points in the losing effort on 5-of-12 with a pair of turnovers in 26 minutes. Mike Francois and Jordan Crawford chipped in 8 points each

Bellevue will look for their third straight victory Saturday night when they travel to Lawrence, Kan. to face Haskell Indian Nations University at 5 p.m.
