BU eSports hosts successful expo, places third in LoL Tournament

BELLEVUE, Neb. -- The Bellevue University League of Legends eSports team wrapped up a successful inaugural season this past weekend when they co-hosted, along with the Midwest eSports League, the Nebraska eSports Exposition.

Bruin head coach Alex Rogers was especially appreciative for the support that Bellevue received from Midwest/Nebraska eSports both for helping bring the event to BU and for a successful weekend.

The event included a full line-up of tournaments, vendors, and free-to-play games. Several hundred people attended and took part in the event over the course of the weekend.

Bellevue placed third in the featured event of the exposition, the League of Legends Tournament, which included both collegiate and amateur teams. The Bruins defeated Grand View University in the best-of-three game third place match.

BU's League of Legends team qualified for the post-season in each of the two sanctioned tournaments they entered this season. The Bruins competed in the Round of 32 of the AVGL Collegiate League of Legends Championship and reached the North Conference Quarterfinals in the RIOT College League of Legends Championship.

The League of Legends team will return to competitive play in the fall of 2018 and be joined by Bellevue's new Overwatch team.

The BU League of Legends team placed third, earning $1,500 for their performance.
