Schorie named preseason NAIA All-American

NAIA Release

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Bellevue University senior Dustin Schorie (Chandler, Ariz.) was one of 17 NAIA baseball players named to the Preseason Baseball All-America Team, selected annually by the NAIA-Baseball Coaches Association (NAIA-BCA) All-America Committee.

The team included 15 NAIA All-Americans from a season ago, while Schorie was an honorable mention selection in 2023.

Last season, Schorie sported a 9-0 record while posting a 2.38 ERA. He racked up 77 strikeouts (9.6 K/9) against just 15 walks (5.1 K:BB ratio) to go along with a WHIP of 1.04 across 72 innings of work. He logged six complete games, including a pair of shutouts, and finished another, registering a save in a win over No. 1-ranked Southeastern.

He led the North Star Athletic Association in ERA, finished second in strikeouts (to fellow NAIA Preseason All-American Sam Tyrpa), and third in wins (behind teammates Alexandro Celiceo and Blake Crippen).

Nationally, Schorie ranked 10th in ERA among qualifiers, 31st in wins, and 96th in strikeouts despite not making his season debut until Mar. 11, Bellevue's 16th game of the season.

Bellevue is ranked seventh nationally by both the NAIA Coaches' Poll and the NAIA Ball Media Poll, sponsored by Netting Pros. Bellevue will see 15 of their first 20 games come against teams either ranked in the Top 25 or receiving votes.

The Bruins open their season with four games at the NAIA Ball East/West Challenge from Wednesday, Jan. 31-Saturday, Feb. 3. First up is a 7 p.m. first pitch at (RV) Arizona Christian University. BU will also face #17 Vanguard (Feb. 1, 3 p.m.), #3 Lewis-Clark State (Feb. 2, 4 p.m.), and #19 Benedictine Mesa (Feb. 3, 10 a.m.) at the Challenge.
