Bruins land another JuCo All-American in Hansen

BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Bellevue University baseball coach Duane Monlux announced today the signing of Scott Hansen (Portage, Ind./South Suburban College) to a letter of intent to continue his academic and athletic careers at BU beginning in the fall.

Hansen, a 6-0, 190-pound third baseman, joins the Bruins from the South Suburban College in South Holland, Ill. He spent the last two seasons playing baseball for the Bulldogs, putting up tremendous numbers on his way to earning NJCAA Division I Honorable Mention All-American honors this past season.

During his two seasons with SSC, Hansen hit a combined .397 with an OPS of 1.083. He totaled 45 extra-base hits, 90 RBI, 144 runs scored, and 55 stolen bases. This past season, Hansen put up careers highs in nearly every offensive category hitting .435/.544/.656 for an OPS of 1.200 across 59 games. He finished the year with 91 hits, 19 doubles, 12 triples, 76 runs scored, 46 RBI, 30 stolen bases, and drew more walks than strikeouts.

"Scott is a very good college player. We are really excited that he will be joining his South Suburban College teammate Nick Johnstone on the Bruin baseball team. Scott was an everyday players for SSC the past two seasons, tallying over 400 college at-bats and hitting just shy of .400 during those two seasons. He runs well, hits for average, and plays solid defense. Scott had a tremendous sophomore season, earning NJCAA I All-America honors. We expect big things for Scott in a Bruin uniform."

Hansen joins the previously announced Brady Toth (RHP, Boise, Idaho/Columbia Basin College), Jace Wessels (RHP, Clarkston, Wash./Columbia Basin College), Danny Spongberg (OF, Omaha, Neb./Southeast CC), Steven Elsner (1B/OF, San Francisco, Calif./College of Marin), Nick Johnstone (C, Brisbane, Australia/South Suburban College), Jayden Vinson (LHP, Portland, Ore./Mt. Hood CC), Brody Burnette (RHP, Kansas City, Mo./Hesston College), Bryce Zimmerer (OF, Creighton, Neb./South Dakota State), Sam Fortier (Quebec City, Que./Southwestern Oklahoma State), Kole Bennett (RHP, Maple Valley, Wash./Bellevue College), Antony Gilbert (MIF, Quebec City, Que./Northeastern Oklahoma A&M), Cade Herrmann (RHP, Omaha, Neb./Western Illinois), and Tyler Monroe (MIF, Lincoln, Neb./Central Arkansas) in the Bruins' 2023 recruiting class.

Bellevue is coming off a 2023 season in which the program reached the Avista NAIA World Series for the 16th time in program history. During the campaign, the Bruins posted a 48-10 overall mark, going 25-3 in conference play while sweeping both the NSAA Regular-Season and Tournament titles. BU parlayed the league's lone automatic bid into the program's 25th NAIA National Tournament Appearance, hosting their fifth Opening Round at Don Roddy Field and defeating Oklahoma City in the Championship Game to reach the Avista NAIA World Series for the third time in four seasons.
